Preserve world heritage.  That is our philosophy here at Alt M.  We are a group of individuals dedicated to using the world as our museum.  Culture is not limited to one group of people or one nationality, it is a common thread among all mankind.  It may differ from place to place, but the basic definition of what makes us human does not change.  With that in mind, it is our goal to make this world identity available to just that --- the world.

In order to accomplish this task, Alt M has been created as a web-based organization designed to facilitate traveling exhibits from around the world to be accessible to institutions globally.  We provide for individuals and organizations the ability to post any exhibits they are interested in having available to the world, and conversely, we allow organizations to search for any exhibit they are interested in acquiring.  We also offer a variety of programming and administrative assistance for those unsure of how to proceed in this global trade.  We serve as a communication platform for institutions worldwide to discuss issues and ideas, and we serve as a networking platform to connect institutions from the far corners of the world.

What makes us different

Unlike many of our competitors, we are absolutely FREE.  We believe that world heritage is not something used to make a profit, but a right that should be given to all citizens.  For that reason, we operate based on grant money, corporate sponsorships, and donations alone.  We do not take a cut of your proceeds for using our services, and we are very proud of that!  Furthermore, we do not impose restrictions on our organizations.  You have complete control of how your exhibit looks, is marketed, the cost, who ships it, where it goes, the duration, and anything else you would like to specify.  Since we do not get involved in the transfer of the exhibit and are merely a listing site, you maintain complete control over your exhibit.  Finally, we do not serve only museums.  All you need to provide us with is a Federal ID, tax ID, or professional references, and we will accept your exhibit or send one to you!  So, whether it is to book an exhibit or submit one, who can use our services?  YOU!  

 

Who YOU are

Whether you are an individual, company, museum, art gallery, school, or anyone else who has a Federal ID, Tax ID number, or three professional references, you are more than welcome to use our services!  We encourage all kinds of organizations to host and travel exhibits, that's what makes things interesting!  

Why do we require your Federal ID number?  

Since security is one of our highest values here, we do require that you submit your ID number so that we can make sure we are providing the best possible safety for our visitors' exhibits.  The number is used for background checks only and will only have to be given once.  

Because we allow all types of institutions to use our services and are not representative of just one organization or cultural sector, the exhibits on our site reach a much wider audience and have more probability of being booked than if they were listed on an organization's page alone, or through an exhibition firm who only deals with a very limited number of exhibits.  That being said, it also means that you won't have to do as much searching around to find that perfect exhibit for your own organization!  We take in all sorts of exhibits in our listings so if you want it, we probably have it!  We also do not take on any exhibition as our own, so if you want to place your exhibit onto another site as well, that's fine with us!  We truly want you to spread your culture and knowledge to the rest of the world and we will try our best to make that happen!

 

The Process

So, what do we do here?  

We allow organizations to post their own exhibits on our website to form an online catalogue of traveling exhibits.  All organizations are fully checked before any exhibits are posted, so you can be sure of your booking. With this system, there is no need to travel to a specific site to view an exhibit as all relevant information is listed on our website!  Contact details will be provided only to interested, and verified, organizations, so you can be sure that your number will never be sold or used in any other way than to further the growth of your organization. 

We can decrease your exhibit costs by thousands of dollars!

Since you don't have to travel all over the world to view and find exhibits, and you don't have pay an exhibition firm or listing fee, we can save you precious money that can be spent on educational material, other exhibits, or even new benches for your visitors!  There are four easy steps to submitting an exhibit to our website once you have registered your organization.

 

When a registered organization is interested in your exhibit, we will receive an email stating their interest, and will forward your provided contact information on to them.  From then on, the ball is in your court!  We do not take a commission and we do not charge for our services.  Your exhibit will remain on our site until it is booked.  At that point, a simple email from you will allow us to remove your exhibit from our listing and you're done!
